A New Roland Toy

I’ve always played the piano, and never wanted more out of my piano then the pure piano sound and maybe a bit of organ.  However, whenever I sat at someone else’s keyboard I’d be jealous of the sounds it could produce.  It was often as simple as a rock beat that you could play along to and for some reason I would usually play the theme to “American’s Funniest Home Videos” or “We’re Not Gonna Take It”.

For some reason in the past few months I was bitten by the new keyboard bug.  Not a replacement; more of a toy.   I did a bunch of research and ended up way over my original budget purchasing Roland’s Fantom G6.  I spent hours looking at YouTube videos but never quite found what I was looking for… someone just having fun.  There was a ton of videos of people creating phat beats and the next big rap song, or some crazy solo improv.  That was great, and I look forward to trying it, but where was the guy playing Heart’s “Alone” with the preset drum beats?  I decided to fill that void, and offer no apologies.  I (obviously) didn’t even get as far as figuring out how to end it, but, you have to start somewhere.

  1. I think my favorite part was the guitar sound/your minimalist exit. I demand more funny 80’s instrumentals!
